Protocols

Before You Come

Safety is our #1 priority. You must read and agree to our Covid Protocols listed below. The information and protocols listed may change based on ongoing changes with Covid.

Use the toilet at home. The toilet in the dojo is only for emergencies. If a student or guest must use the toilet, access it from the workout room, not the lobby. Permission is not needed to enter the workout room to use the toilet.

There is no changing of clothes in the dojo. Arrive in your workout clothes ready to train. For classes during your Trial Program wear comfortable clothes with pockets empty. No shorts. We go barefoot.

Remove all jewelry and leave it and other valuables at home or in the car. If you must have a phone or other valuables in the dojo give them to Sensei at the beginning of class. The club is not responsible for unsupervised valuables.

Long hair needs to be out of your eyes, and nails kept short.

If possible we ask that students wear flip-flops or other easy-on easy-off shoes (with no socks). This saves a lot of time with getting students in and out of the dojo.

Only students (not parents or friends) are allowed in the dojo past the yellow sign that says “No Shoes Past Here.” Parents are welcome to observe class from the parking lot window. If a student is receiving a Belt Promotion, parents may remove their shoes and enter the workout room to observe the awarding of the belt at the beginning of class.

All guests in the dojo need to talk quietly and have electronic items at a low level. Noise should not be heard in the workout room.

Everyone inside the dojo needs to be without illness symptoms. If the Sensei gets sick, she will either have to come in and teach sick, or cancel all classes until she is healthy.

Parking

The dojo is located at 290 N Millward (on the corner of Mercill). Our entrance is on the East side of the building in the alley where there is a small parking lot with spaces for 5 cars. Do not idle. Excessive idling allows car exhaust fumes from the parking lot to enter the dojo and is unhealthy. Be sure to leave enough space between your car and the building (at least 4′) so parents have enough room to watch class through the window, and students do not have to walk behind any cars.

There is a 1 car per family limit in the parking lot.

Parents may pull into the alley to drop students off, but do not stay and block the alley.

Street parking is also available.

On a final note, never park in the Homewood Suites Hotel parking spots located right next to the dojo in the alley. It is okay to park in front of the dojo Red Garage Door as long as you remain with your car. All parking spots South of there are for the hotel.

Arrival

Students need to arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of class. Our rule of thumb is “If you’re early, you’re on time. If you’re on time, you’re late.” We start lining up for class a few minutes before the start of class.

Students that arrive late need to wait at the workout room door for permission to enter. Then they will do 10 push-ups to get focused before joining the other students.

Departure

Students need to be picked-up promptly at the end of class.

Current Covid Information

The karate club has remained open and active throughout the entire pandemic. To our knowledge not a single person has contracted Covid as a result of attending karate classes!

Employees have been fully vaccinated and are following strict Covid Protocols.

Student’s hands are sanitized at the beginning and end of class.

The main workout room has an air exchange system bringing fresh filtered air in and venting stale air out.

All students need to follow Teton County Health Department guidelines for Covid if showing symptoms, exposed to Covid, or testing positive.

If you test positive for Covid and were attending classes during the contagious period you must inform the club so we can notify classmates of a potential exposure. Your identity will be confidential.

Covid Protocols

While we understand that many symptoms can be caused by non-Covid related issues, we must proceed with an abundance of caution. Students and staff with any of the following symptoms may potentially have Covid and may not be admitted to the dojo or will be sent home unless you have allergies or another non-sickness reason for your symptoms. If this applies to you, you must contact Sensei as soon as possible to discuss this.

Healthy Participants Only
If you are not feeling well (see list of Covid symptoms below) you may not attend class until you feel better and are symptom free. Please get tested for Covid. Covid testing is easy, free, and helps to protect your family, friends and classmates.
