Protocols

Before You Come

Safety is our #1 priority. You must read and agree to our Covid Protocols listed below. The information and protocols listed may change based on ongoing changes with the Covid Pandemic.

Use the toilet at home. The toilet in the dojo is only for emergencies.

There is no changing of clothes in the dojo. Arrive in your workout clothes ready to train. For classes during your Trial Program wear comfortable clothes with pockets empty. No shorts. We go barefoot.

Remove all jewelry and leave it and other valuables at home or in the car. If you must have a phone or other valuables in the dojo give them to Sensei at the beginning of class. The club is not responsible for unsupervised valuables.

Long hair needs to be out of your eyes.

If possible we ask that students wear flip-flops or other easy-on easy-off shoes (with no socks). This saves a lot of time with getting students in and out of the dojo.

Only students (not parents or friends) are allowed in the dojo. Parents are welcome to observe class from the parking lot window.

Parking

The dojo is located at 290 N Millward (on the corner of Mercill). Our entrance is on the East side of the building in the alley where there is a small parking lot with spaces for 5 cars. Do not idle. Excessive idling allows car exhaust fumes from the parking lot to enter the dojo and is unhealthy. Be sure to leave enough space between your car and the building so parents have enough room to watch class through the window.

There is a 1 car per family limit in the parking lot.

It is okay to park in front of the garage as long as you remain with your car.

Parents may pull into the alley to drop students off, but do not stay and block the alley.

Street parking is also available.

Due to the Children’s Learning Center construction (across the street) the North side of Mercill has cones and barrels indicating “drop-off and pick-up only.” Karate parents may use this blocked off section for drop-off and pick-up as long as you are in your car waiting to pick-up or drop-off your child, or are actively walking them to and from the dojo. However do not park your car there and leave it unattended.

On a final note, never park in the Homewood Suites Hotel parking spots located right next to the dojo in the alley.

Arrival

Students need to arrive 5-10 minutes before the start of class.

Aim to arrive at the dojo 10 minutes before the start of class. Our rule of thumb is “If you’re early, you’re on time. If you’re on time, you’re late.”

Departure

Students need to be picked-up promptly at the end of class. Arrive 5 minutes before the end of class.

Current Covid Information

The karate club has remained open and active throughout the entire pandemic. To our knowledge not a single person has contracted Covid as a result of attending karate classes!

Only students (no parents) are allowed inside the dojo

6’+ distance will be observed when possible, however students will be touching each other and equipment

When possible we will limit the number of students that come in contact with each other

Employees have been fully vaccinated and are following strict Covid Protocols

Equipment is cleaned in between classes

Student’s hands are sanitized at the beginning and end of class

The main workout room has an air exchange system bringing fresh filtered air in and venting stale air out

All students need to follow Teton County Health Department guidelines for Covid if showing symptoms, exposed to Covid, or testing positive.

If you test positive for Covid and were attending classes during the contagious period you must inform the club so we can notify classmates of a potential exposure. Your identity will be confidential.

Currently the wearing of facemasks is optional. Masks may once again become mandatory if changes happen with the Covid Pandemic.

Covid Protocols

While we understand that many symptoms can be caused by non-Covid related issues, we must proceed with an abundance of caution. Students and staff with any of the following symptoms may potentially have Covid and may not be admitted to the dojo or will be sent home unless you have allergies or another non-Covid reason for your symptoms. If this applies to you, you must contact Sensei as soon as possible to discuss this.

Healthy Participants Only
If you are not feeling well (see list of Covid symptoms below) you may not attend class until you feel better and are symptom free. Please get tested for Covid. Covid testing is easy, free, and helps to protect your family, friends and classmates. CLICK HERE FOR INFORMATION ON GETTING TESTED
